Ladies…
We really do need to start uplifting each other. I was talking to a friend the other day. She is the most gorgeous, kindest, sweetest chick I know. She’s there for me whenever I need her. She was telling me about how this guy told her she is beautiful, and she was surprised.
I couldn’t believe that it shocked her. I told her, “How could you be surprised? You’re beautiful, funny, kind. You’re easy to talk to.” And her answer was, “Thanks. I’ve never heard that from anyone else but guys trying to get with me.”
Guys know what they are doing when they whisper all these sweet nothings in our ears. We sit there, gasp, ooh and ahh over the things they say that we should already know and believe. Our mothers should tell us these things. Our dads should tell us these things. Our friends, especially our female friends should tell us these things. When we only hear it from “guys trying get with us” we tend to think that it’s just a phrase to get in our pants.
I don’t want to say that is how all girls feel, but it is most definitely how I feel and how my friend felt. Let’s make it a little harder for guys to get in our pants, and a little easier for us to believe just how beautiful we are—inside and out.
THIS.
